Remington Performance
Packages
Aquila now offers tune up packages for Remington 700 rifles.
Remington makes a great rifle and it’s also a great rifle to perform
custom work on because of the number of after market parts are
virtually unlimited, not to mention that it’s well designed.
The aftermarket parts market is important when building a rifle.
Little things like the unlimited quantity and configurations of
rings and bases, firing pins, triggers and stocks are important to
perfectly fit a rifle to the shooter.
These packages also give the shooter the confidence that their rifle
is in good working order with no hidden problems.
NOTE: The options are listed in a fashion that is a logical
order for tuning a rifle. For example, it is not recommended that
the receiver and bolt be blue printed and then put the factory
barrel back in.
Head Spacing
The head spacing is checked to be sure it’s with in tolerances.
If it’s not, Aquila can correct it but it will require the removal
of the barrel to remachine the shoulder. It is an additional $125.00
Stock Work
Wood stocks are pillar bedded and the barrel is free floated. If
it’s an H-S Precision stock, on most Senderos, the lug area is
bedded and the barrel is free floated. The receiver screws are
torqued to exact tolerances. We have seen instances where a bedding
job and proper stock screw toque tightened the groups by as much as
1”.
Recrown the barrel
This is an extremely important part of the barrel. If not done
exactly true with the bore, one side of the bullet will leave the
barrel before the other, causing it to be slightly deflected and in
turn, an inaccurate rifle. This is also a tricky machining set up
that if not done correctly, it may make things worse.

Trigger job
A bad trigger pull is a definite group killer. Aquila no longer
works on factory triggers. We replace the factory with a Timminey
trigger, which has a wide adjustment range and is far superior to
the factory trigger.
Light Firing Pin and
Spring
The amount of time it takes: from the time you pull the trigger,
till the moment the bullet ignites is called lock time. A shortened
lock time does not make a rifle more accurate, it allows the shooter
to shoot more accurately. Any movement during this time causes the
point of aim to change and this option reduces the issue.
Lapped Scope Rings
Scope rings are lapped to ensure a good tight fit, which
eliminates the possibility of scope movement during recoil. Many
accuracy issues have been traced back to improperly mounted optics.
Muzzle Brake
A secret about muzzle brakes, most brakes on the market work
fine. We feel that our 4th generation brakes work great due to a
unique interior design that is engineered to take full advantage of
expanding gasses to reduce the recoil and not effect accuracy.
After we install our
brake, there is no visible seam between the barrel and the brake.
The brake appears to be part of the barrel and is made from quality
steel, to exact tolerances.
Receiver and Bolt Blue
printing
The receiver bolt face and threads are machined so that they are
perfectly aligned with the bolt channel. The bolt lugs and face are
machined to be in alignment with the bolt body. This process not
only trues the receiver and bolt, but also reduces the stress on the
bolt and the lug face caused by the miss alignment inherent from the
factory.
Bushing the Firing pin
An additional bolt refining process such as "bushing the firing
pin hole" will ensure consistent firing pin strikes on every shot.
We have done a great deal of testing to determine firing pin depth
and diameter to ensure this procedure really performs. If you're
ordering a rifle for target or long range shooting, this option is a
must.
Barrel replacement
The barrel is replaced with a quality Hart or Lilja barrel. This
offers a great advantage over the factory barrel. Not only is the
barrel steel and bore is far superior to the factory but, our
machining process is much more precise. We do more than just machine
both ends and install it. We have a number of special processes at
we go through when installing a barrel that ensure a perfect job.
Note: There are
many barrel companies that manufacture high quality barrels. Aquila
is able to procure Harts and Lilja barrels in a timely manner
therefore and are the barrels of choice for most customers..
However, we will be happy to use a quality barrel from the
manufacture of choice. Aquila does not install chromoly barrels.
Barrel fluting is for
cosmetic reasons only.

3 position Safety
This option moves safety from the trigger to the bolt. It
actually locks the firing pin which is much more reliable than
locking the trigger.
Extended Bolt Handle and Badger Knob
Not only does this add a “cool” look to your rifle but is also
aides in the ease cocking. A longer bolt handle adds leverage and
actually reduces the effort in cocking the rifle.
Custom Etching
This is always a nice custom addition to a rifle. Stainless is
electro etched and blued steel is etched in the tradition manner. We
will son have laser engraving available.
This is a basic package
that will add accuracy and reliability to your rifle. It has more
enhancements than some custom rifles on the market and at a
reasonable price. If you have a rifle with a plastic stock, a wood
or synthetic stock can be purchased through Aquila. The plastic
stocks are very difficult to impossible to properly bed and are not
suited for these tuning packages.

All of the enhancements of
the level one are performed as well as a new barrel. This package
will cover most shooters that need consistent reliable performance
from their rifle. Some factory barrels shoot great and some don’t.
Most factory barrels suffer from repeatable performance and fouling.
A lot of these problems are due to poor or poorly stressed relieved
steel and inferior bores. This package takes out that hindrance.
Some Level 2 performance
package suggestions: for a very accurate hunting rifle, a receiver
blue printing and a barrel replacement will normally make for a
reliable, consistently accurate rifle. A target rifle or tactical
rifle requires a few more options like bushing the bolt and firing
pin to bring them up to the performance level needed.
